So, I have been playing around with book titles, and have come to a decision. Mortal Obligation is the first book in a series about Alastriana. I am not sure what the series will be titled, I am still playing around with words. At this point I have an outline for a trilogy. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the title. Does it sound appealing? Or do you think it needs tweaking? I'm open to suggestions.
It feels a little ambitious to want my first book to be part of a trilogy, but hey, go big or go home! Ha! Those of you who know me, know that is totally not my normal mantra. I am a worry wart, and will be stressed about this untill I publish the third book. And then I will worry about little things like, publicity, reviews, and starting the next book. Yep, you read that right. I figure that I have, hm, maybe twelve different book ideas floating in my head at any given moment. Four of which I am very, very serious about writing. And one of those would be atleast two books, possibly more.
I managed to get 4,000 words done this weekend. That is roughly two and a half chapters. My chapters are pretty loose at this point-- Some of them are pretty clear cut, and others are a little more ambiguous. The more I write the clearer they become.
Well, I am off to write some more. My goal is to have 20,000 words done by this weekend. I know, thats a rather large number but I want to aim high for a lot of reasons. I'm just shy of 40,000 at this moment and I am wanting to double that in the next couple of weeks.
Let me know what you think of the book title, and if you have any suggestions!
I love the title. Word plays are my favorites because they are both familiar and catchy. What is your story about?
ReplyDeleteI also think it is great you are starting with a trilogy. Yeah that is a big step, but it also allows you to really explore those characters and as a reader I love trilogies.
20k is totally doable. Find a stride and let the story go you will be there before you know it! I am excited for you.
I love the title! Ditto to what Lizzie said; word plays are the best and they stick with people! You have a great blog and I love getting to know you better!
ReplyDeleteHey Nicole!!! LOVE the title! It's definitely intriguing, and I'm curious to find out more! I totally agree that once you get it started, the words flow more easily! Good luck with your weekend goal! I'm sure you'll make it! :)
ReplyDeleteHi,just thought I would drop a couple of lines since I have no idea how I ended up on your blogg. But as you can see something caught my attention and kept me to continue reading. First I would like to say you are too funny and real. I mean chasing your toddler trying to act out scenes from your story..your so cool. Second, your book title "Mortal Obligation" love it. I can already see myself glued to it. You have came up with an eye catching title with grab catching pull. Looking forward in staying tune to your blogg and really looking forward into your book. Keep on with the every day madness of being a mom and I'm sure more of your writing will pour out.
