It's that time again! This weeks featured writer is Liz Schulte of Bat Country. To find her answer to this weeks question, please click on the picture of the quill and ink bottle. To see my answer to the question, just keep on reading.

Some people like to do it in the office. Others prefer it in bed. Some people like it on the dining room table. Get your mind out of the gutter, I'm asking where you like to write!

Now that I am a mother to a toddler, I find that the only place I can really sit down and get lost in my story is in the office. If I am at the dining room table, she thinks it is time to eat. Cheese! Cheese! is all I hear if I am any where near the fridge. She is going to turn into a really cute mouse any minute and start singing songs from Cinderella. Er, I went off on a tangent, didn't I? Okay, back to where I like to write. I have been working on setting up a place to write on the back patio. I want lots of plants, and a good breeze. (Not that I can control the breeze.) That way the munchkin can run around and play with the dogs while I talk to my characters. Not sure how that will work out, but it is the ultimate goal. The backyard is really a lovely place to sit on a cool, bright day. But with all of this rain, I will just content myself for now with a fan, and a flourescent lamp while sitting at my computer desk.

How do you join in the fun? So glad you asked. It’s really quite simple.

  2. Greetings Nichole! This is a great idea. I think that giving yourself a place to write where your little one can run around is a great idea. I hope the weather clears up for you soon so that you can try this out. I know I am looking forward to get out of my stuffy place too.

  3. Hi Nichole - your mouse sounds adorable! I love that you create a place for you to write. I have a desk but it's more of a glorified laundry holder and book pile keeper than a writing aide LOL It's just me and my bed! Enjoy your weekend.

  4. Hi Nichole,
Hello! This is my very first bloghop. It's nice to meet u!
I usually write in the living room, in my big, comfy chair, with chaos raining down around me. The TV blasting–as long as it’s something I don’t want to watch. Ladies, if your husband is not a NASCAR fan, get him to pick it up. It is four hours on a Sunday afternoon for seven months of the year..

Would I like a private, serene office where I could gaze out at a babbling brook and only hear the music of the water and the wind sighing through the trees.

Uh..shyah… but not gonna happen for a while. So, in the meantime.. I deal.

  5. I wonder what you'd do if the munchkin started talking to your characters as well... sorry, is that another tangent? Happy Friday!

  6. LOL I like Wolfe's comment above! Maybe some inspiration will spawn from that...I often take my laptop outside while the kids play, it's fantastic!! You get the best of both worlds. :) Happy Friday!

  10. Most of my writing gets done at around two or three in the morning when I'm on nights at the hospital. By that time, things are usually quiet, the patient I'm looking after (if I'm in ICU) is settled and all I have to do is sit by and monitor them. Since I've had my Galaxy Tablet, the task is a lot easier.

  11. I'm stopping into say hello! It's my first time here and I've never done a blog hope (nor am I participating in this one) but I've always found them to be a great way to get to know people!!!

I love writing when I have a free moment. At work between 6am-10am would be amazing so I do try and fit in the time when I can but mostly it's done in the evenings on my couch while I watch television. Not the most efficient but I'm the best multi-tasker around!!

Anyhoo I do hope you'll stop by my neck of the woods to say hello!
