Today is the cover reveal for Flukes!
The cover was designed by the spectacular Stephanie Mooney.

Want to know a little more about the book??? Here is the synopsis:

Meena has a secret guarded closely by her family—a secret as dangerous as the sea, and buried just as deep. When court appointed community service workers are assigned to Flukes, the family-owned animal sanctuary, everyone is on high alert. It doesn’t help that Meena finds herself attracted to sexy-as-sin Blake Weathering, one of the new workers. If he wasn’t so distracting, she might be able to land Flukes a much-needed cruise line contract.

Blake Weathering, the first in his family to attend public school, has developed a tough image. Unfortunately it lands him in trouble. Now banned from his high school graduation ceremony, getting his diploma is dependent upon a community service gig cleaning fish crap. No diploma, no trust fund fortune—and no way to escape his overbearing father. The last thing he needs is the distraction of a mysterious girl with teal eyes who pulls at his heart strings.

When Blake discovers Meena’s secret, they are both thrown into a desperate search for information about her past. Two worlds pull them in opposite directions, and they will have to fight to hold onto all that really matters.

I am so incredibly excited about this book. If you'd like a little sneak peak into my imagination, check out my Flukes Pinterest board. (Did you see my inspiration for Blake??? *swoon*)

How about a quick peek at Flukes? Here is a little teaser:

I hauled myself onto the platform and felt his eyes following me, making my heart jump in my chest. He pulled himself out of the enclosure and peeled his shirt off. The boy was gorgeous and he knew it. The exact kind of guy I should avoid at all costs. He twisted the shirt in his hands, wringing as much water out as he could.
“What next?” Blake slung the wet shirt over his shoulder.
The water droplets that ran down his chest drew my attention like a moth to flame. My fingers itched to touch him. I scrambled to my feet and backed away from him slowly while squeezing the edge of my shirt. Needing a distraction, I picked up the bucket and turned toward the ladder.
“The others should be here soon. I need to go help dad with the assignments and then we can come up with a plan for the crews.”  I didn’t look back at him after climbing the three short rungs, trying to shake the weird spell he seemed to have on me.
He stayed right behind me as I dropped off the bucket at the fish shack and headed for the tool shed. My heart was starting to pick up pace. No matter how much distance I tried to put between us, he seemed just as determined to stay close. When dad and Violet came into view, I was so relieved I almost skipped down the last of the path. She turned to look at me and her eyebrows shot up to her hair line.
“Did you fall in the pen?” Violet’s eyes trailed over Blake and back to me. A slow smile spread over her face and her eyes gleamed. I knew that look. I was in trouble now.
“Blake dragged me into the water.” I pulled at my shirt again and realized you could see my bathing suit through the wet material.
“She pushed me in first.” Blake held up his hands and looked from Violet to my dad with innocent eyes. I snorted. I should have held him under, not just gotten him wet.
“That’s my girl.” Dad held his hand out for a high-five and I reluctantly returned it. “How was Jallia?”
“Good. It shouldn’t be long now.” I looked anywhere but at Violet or Blake, worried they’d see through my nonchalance.
“Excellent. I wonder if we’ll have the new babe for the shore-side rep.” Dad looked at me expectantly for answers.
“I’m not sure.” Shrugging, I walked into the tool shed and pulled my shirt off, not wanting to give anyone a show. I snatched a towel off one of the hooks and dried off the best I could before grabbing one of the spare employee shirts.
“Got an extra towel?” Blake ducked his head in and my heart skipped. I wore bathing suits all year and usually with nothing else on, but for some reason, I felt too exposed under his eyes. I yanked the towel off of the hook next to me and threw it to him without turning around. I needed to get out of there. Hastily, I slipped into the big T-shirt and took my towel to hang on the railing outside.  I stared out at the water past the cove entrance and tried to calm my racing heart. Why was Blake Weathering making me so nervous? I didn’t have time for boys that made me nervous. Especially when I was supposed to work with them to get Flukes a big contract..
“So, did you make any progress?” Dad’s voice was hopeful and I looked up from my thoughts.
“Not really. You wanted him to get to know more about the area, so I introduced him to Mitch and the others.” The corners of my mouth twitched when I remembered how much Mitch had liked him, then silently berated myself.
Blake walked over and hung his towel next to mine. I caught Violet watching us out of the corner of my eye and almost groaned. She had been trying to set me up with guys for years, but I didn’t have time for that stuff. More importantly, I couldn’t risk anyone finding out my secret.

A Chapter from Roland's POV!

Monday, August 20, 2012

Hey guys!

For those of you that do not follow my fan page on Facebook, I wanted to let you know about something I have going on.

When Mortal Obligation reaches 100 honest reviews on Amazon or Barnes and Noble, I will post a chapter from Mortal Obligation that is completely from Roland's perspective. In that chapter, you will get a real feeling for Roland and little behind the scenes information that you haven't heard before. I think it will be a bit of a surprise for you all.

So, all you have to do, is go to Amazon and leave an HONEST review. It only has to be 25 words, you don't have to go crazy and write a book report. Just your honest thoughts about the book. Reviews help other readers decide about a book. Something you hated might be something another reader loves to read about. Something you loved might be something another reader hates about books.

Here is the link for Amazon.

Here is the link for Barnes and Noble.

Thank you to everyone that has already left reviews. Word of mouth is how I sell books. Every time a reader shares their love for a book, it helps another reader find an indie author like me.

Immortal Grave takes another step closer

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

In case you haven't seen the news on Facebook or Twitter, Immortal Grave is now in the hands of my critique partners, who I lovingly refer to as Critters. Only because it amuses me.

So, what does this mean? It means that we are one step closer to publication. Once I hear back from my lovely Critters, I will be making changes, tighten up things, and getting ready to send this bad boy to Anne, my wonderful editor from Victory Editing.

Some of you wonder why it's taken so long to get this book out and I'm going to be very blunt. Life  often dictates the amount of writing time that I have. Medical issues, a crazy toddler, normal every day things sometimes eat up so much time, you don't realize how much time has passed. And if I'm being very, very honest, writing Immortal Grave was one of the harder things I've done. I've compared writing and publishing a book to having a baby before. Since I've done both, I feel like I can do that. No, it's not the same thing, but they both require a lot of work, love, and pain. Immortal Grave was difficult for me in many ways. I was ending something that lived in my head for so very long and I wanted to do it just right. Everything needs to be perfect and work correctly for the ending to make sense. So, I took my time. I deleted passages that I felt didn't do things justice, or turned down a road that was not where I wanted to go. Sometimes that was because characters said or did something I didn't expect. Make no mistake about this: Immortal Grave ends the way I envisioned over two years ago. Every bit of the outcome is exactly as I planned when I sat down and drew out my timeline. When you read it-- love it or hate it, know that it is exactly how I pictured everything from the get go.

Here's the thing. I know there are teams out there in the reader world. Team Paden and Team Roland. For some of you, it is all fun and games. I joke about it and even have O'Reilly and Diakos stuff in my Dark Betrayal Trilogy store. But, for some of you, it's serious and you have made it very clear what you think if I don't have Ree end up how you picture. (By the way, I get that from both sides of the divide.) I'm glad that you love my characters so much. Everyone wants you to love their babies. But trust that I know my story, know my characters, and that I might have plans.

Immortal Grave is going to come with a warning. This book contains violence and some sexual situations. You read that right. Violence and sexual situations. This book is non-stop. Just so you know, I cried at the end of the book. A lot. I had to get up and walk away for a while. I was moved by the scene I wrote and by the very fact that I had just written something I'd been working toward for years. That's a big moment. For me, that was a huge moment. So, I hope you will hang on just a little longer while I get it ready for you guys.

So, I say one more time (likely for the last time!), thank you for your patience. <3 I have some of the best readers ever.
