Welcome to THE NEXT BIG THING! This is part of an authors' blog tour. Each author who is tagged has the privilege of answering questions about their current work-in progress. The lovely Jessi Gibson tagged me for my upcoming novel, FLUKES.
What is the working title of your book?
Flukes will be out on October 8th! *bites nails in anticipation*
Where did the idea come from for the book?
Inspiration can strike anywhere. I was giving my toddler a bath and she was trying to learn how to float. I looked down at her and I couldn't help but think, wouldn't a baby mermaid be adorable? Bam! The idea took hold and wouldn't let go. It was so different from everything else I had worked on and I couldn't wait to dive in and bring it to life.
What genre does your book fall under?
New Adult Paranormal Romance
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Meena has worked her entire life to protect her secret, but Blake Weathering will shatter through all of her defenses just for the chance to capture her heart.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
Flukes will be self-published.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
Three weeks. It was by far the fastest book I've written. Flukes was waiting to pour out of me.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I honestly can't think of another book that would match up with Flukes. It's a light-hearted paranormal romance where the story focuses more on the relationship between the characters than anything else.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
Like I mentioned before, the book was inspired by daughter playing in the bathtub. However, the mushy scenes are definitely inspired by my husband. ;)
What else about your book might pique the readers’ interest?
If you enjoy paranormal romance, steamy love scenes, with a good bit of humor and happy endings, this is the book for you.
