On Christmas Hill is LIVE!

Friday, November 30, 2012

It's here! Just in time for the 1st of December! On Christmas Hill, my Christmas short story is now available for Kindle and on Smashwords. As soon as Barnes and Noble goes live, I will update this post with those links.

Want a little tease?
Here you go:

“I’ve got to run to town later, why don’t you come with me? Get a good look around.” Nate put the plate in the sink and looked down at me. There wasn’t much space between us and I couldn’t help feeling nervous. He was gorgeous. All brooding eyes and chiseled features. He belonged in a J. Crew catalogue, not out here in the sticks. Except, that worked too. He looked like he belonged outside and not in a cubicle somewhere.
“Okay. I have a few things I need to get.” For some reason my voice came out a little huskier than usual and I bit my lip.
“Good.” He didn’t move, except for his eyes. They dipped down to my mouth and it was like he had touched them. And then he did. His hand moved up to cup my cheek while his thumb ran over my bottom lip. “Molly, I…”
Remy chose that moment to bark and jump on my leg. He single-pawedly broke the moment and I stepped away from Nate. What was I doing? Waiting for him to kiss me?

My Thanksgiving Surprise

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

When life hands you lemons, you can either make lemonade or throw them at people.

Guess which one I decided to do? Yep. I'm going to have to repaint my bedroom to cover up all of the yellow stains. I have a terrible arm. ;)

Okay, okay. I did save a few lemons for lemonade. I've been very sick and stuck in bed for a week. I was going stir crazy. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays and I wanted to be planning cool deserts and forcing my husband to get out the Christmas stuff. Instead I was confined to bed. I had to do something write? WRITE! Yeah, I just punned you. But that's what I did. I've had an idea for a Christmas story for a while and was planning on publishing it next year. But there I was, needing a good distraction.

SO! Voila!

On Christmas Hill
Nichole Chase

When Gertie Nichols passed away, her estate was given to her great niece, Molly. After making the long trek from Florida to Vermont with her dog Remy, Molly is caught off guard by the attractive groundskeeper her aunt left in charge. At first her lonely holiday seems to be shaping up to be better than expected—until Nate tells her about the Nichols family legacy and the secret of Christmas Hill.

As sparks fly and magic blossoms right before her eyes, Molly will have to decide whether to take up the mantle her of great aunt that’s been left behind or turn her back on tradition and the man who has quickly garnered space in her heart.

Since I wasn't originally planning on publishing OCH this year, I don't have an exact release day yet, but I'm hoping in the next couple of weeks. I promise to keep you all updated as soon as it goes live. On Christmas Hill is a short story and not related to my other series. HOWEVER! I think that you will enjoy the romance and the hint of magic that is part of Christmas Hill. Also, I have plans for continuing this series for future holidays. So, keep your eyes open. :)

Thank you to everyone that has been so kind and helpful while I've been out of the loop. Your kind words and sweet actions have made my life so much better. This Thanksgiving I am grateful for every single one of you.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Also, for the holidays, I've lowered the price for FLUKES to $0.99!

Release Day, Cover Reveal, and Giveaway!

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Today is a BUSY day!!!! I have three cool things to share with you!

Today is the release day for A Toast to the Good Times by Liz Reinhardt and Steph Campbell! I can't wait to read this one. Two of my fave authors and a holiday story? Oh, yes please! Sign me up!

It’s the eve before Christmas Eve, and all that twenty-three-year-old Landry has on the agenda for the holiday is moping in the bar that he left everything behind to open.

And he’s got plenty to mope about.

He found his girlfriend treating herself to a little holiday delight with his best friend;
He hasn’t seen his family in over a year- since he alienated them all and ended up spending a night in jail;
And he may have just ruined the perfect, uncomplicated thing he had going with his platonically hot roommate, Mila.

Drinks all around!

But when he gets a call from his sister, Paisley, begging him to make it home for a huge announcement, he tosses aside his better judgment, (or, what’s left of it after that last round of drinks) and hops on the first train back home to Jersey.

But home for the holidays isn’t all mugs of cocoa and fireside chats with his family.
Landry left the people he loves the most high and dry when he fled to Boston and spent all of his inheritance…the inheritance money that he was supposed to use to help save his family’s floundering bar.

His dad will hardly look at him, his ex is maybe stalking him, his sister has dropped a bombshell on the family, and a flame from the past catches his eye. When Landry’s present and near past collide, it only further complicates things.

Landry thought he was leaving all of his problems behind when he left his family in New Jersey. But he comes home to find out that problems, like family, never go away. And sometimes facing the past with the help of someone who’s fearless about the future is the only way to move on.

Mature content: alcohol, language and sexual situations.

HANG ON! Don't go anywhere! I have more to share!!! Now, for the cover reveal of ATONE by Sarah Ross!

Before there was Awaken, before there was “Lucy and Max”, there was just Max. And he had some issues.
A lot of issues.
Max Kensington ‘s death haunted him for years. The guilt of his sins tormented him. Unable to let go, he was sure he’d never be able to atone for all of them. But that didn’t stop him from trying.
When his reason for being is suddenly thrust back into his life, he vows to protect her at all costs. He’ll do whatever it takes to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself. And this time, he’ll fight to the bitter end to capture the one thing that has alluded him—happiness.

Suddenly Royal Cover Reveal & a surprise!

Thursday, November 15, 2012

It's time! I finally get to share the gorgeous cover for Suddenly Royal! Sarah Hansen from Okay Creations surpassed my expectations. I'm absolutely thrilled!

Samantha Rousseau is used to getting her hands dirty. Working toward a master’s degree in wildlife biology while helping take care of her sick father, she has no time for celebrity gossip, designer clothes, or lazy vacations. So when a duchess from the small country of Lilaria invites her to dinner, Samantha assumes it’s to discuss a donation for the program. The truth will change the course of her life in ways she never dreamed.

Alex D’Lynsal is trying to keep his name clean. As crown prince of Lilaria, he’s had his share of scandalous headlines, but the latest pictures have sent him packing to America and forced him to swear off women—especially women in the public eye. That is, until he meets Samantha Rousseau. She’s stubborn, feisty, and incredibly sexy. Not to mention heiress to an estate in his country, which makes her everyone’s front-page news.

While Sam tries to navigate the new world of politics and wealth, she will also have to dodge her growing feelings for Alex. Giving in to them means more than just falling in love; it would mean accepting the weight of an entire country on her shoulders.

A reluctant royal.
A playboy prince.
Cinderella has nothing
on Sam.

(unedited and may change some before publishing.)

I shrugged out of my coat and that’s when I felt his eyes on me. Looking up, I realized that Prince Yummy had indeed come for the dinner. Jess and the undergrads had been wrong. He wasn’t yummy, he was delicious; a feast to be savored. Dark blonde hair that hung a smidge too long, eyes so blue it was like looking into the heart of a glacier. Built like the statue of David; the contours of his suit hugged every delicious muscle.

As his eyes ran over my face and down my body slowly, heat washed over my skin. When I handed the jacket to the maĆ®tre d’ I felt naked. There was something about his bright blue eyes that left me feeling exposed.
“Thank you, Alfred.” I mumbled the words, feeling completely off guard by the look I’d just received. The man left without a word, and I really hoped that he didn’t do anything nasty to my jacket.
“Alfred?” The prince’s mouth quirked on one side, revealing a dimple, and I wondered if a dimple could kill a person. It was possible that I was having a heart attack right now. “Is that his name?”
“Oh, you know. He looks a bit like Batman’s butler, but without the wicked sense of humor.” I winced. I was speaking to a prince, a real live prince, and my first interaction was describing a comic book character.
“I vaguely recall something about Batman and his butler.” The princes’ eyes glittered mischievously. I felt my mouth twist a little, relieved that he had gotten my ill-timed sense of humor. “But I would have pegged him more as Jarvis from the Avengers comics.”

Fisher Amelie has a trailer for her upcoming book and she's releasing it today! It makes me want the book even more!
Check it out!

If you’re looking for a story about a good, humble girl, who’s been hurt by someone she thought she could trust, only to find out she’s not as vulnerable as she thought she was and discovers an empowering side of herself that falls in love with the guy who helps her find that self, blah, blah, blah...then you’re gonna’ hate my story.

Because mine is not the story you read every time you bend back the cover of the latest trend novel. It’s not the “I can do anything, now that I’ve found you/I’m misunderstood but one day you’ll find me irresistible because of it” tale. Why? Because, if I was being honest with you, I’m a complete witch. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a friend using, drug abusing, sex addict from Los Angeles. I’m every girlfriend’s worst nightmare and every boy’s fantasy.

I’m Sophie Price...And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most envied girl to the girl no one wanted around and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

“Hold me tighter,” I whispered against his teeth. He clutched me closer yet not tight enough. “More,” I demanded.
He drew me firmer against him and I felt every ridge of his body.
“Is that close enough?” he laughed into my throat.
“Perfect,” I told him.

Oh, and Fisher has an amazing giveaway going on for a KINDLE FIRE! Go enter! And check out the rest of Fishers books! She's amazing!

Cover Reveal: The Haunting Season by Michelle Muto

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

I'm honored to help show off the cover for Michelle Mutos upcoming novel the Haunting Season. Not only is Michelle one of the first Indie authors that I read, her novel is set in Savannah! Isn't that awesome? Let me just say that this cover knocks my socks off and truly captures the creepy feel of old Savannah.

Be careful what you let in…

Siler House has stood silent beneath Savannah’s moss-draped oaks for decades. Notoriously haunted, it has remained empty until college-bound Jess Perry and three of her peers gather to take part in a month-long study on the paranormal. Jess, who talks to ghosts, quickly bonds with her fellow test subjects. One is a girl possessed. Another just wants to forget. The third is a guy who really knows how to turn up the August heat, not to mention Jess’s heart rate…when he’s not resurrecting the dead.

The study soon turns into something far more sinister when they discover that Siler House and the dark forces within are determined to keep them forever. In order to escape, Jess and the others will have to open themselves up to the true horror of Siler House and channel the very evil that has welcomed them all.

Review: Gifts of the Peramangk by Dean Mayes

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

For those of you that follow my blog on a regular basis, you know that I make it a policy to not review books. I will post about books that I love, or authors that I love, but I don't actually post my 'review' of the books.  Why? Because there is a lot of grey area when you become an author. However, I'm breaking my self imposed rule to review this book. Why? Because it was that DAMN good.

Gifts of the Peramangk is not like most books that I read. I tend to like light-hearted stories with romance. If you add a hint of paranormal, then I'm hooked. Gifts is not that type of story, yet I was hooked. And I do mean hooked. Mayes posted a snippet of the book on his blog months ago. His words are more like a spell that a passage in a book. When you read them, you are there smelling the same flowers, feeling the same sunshine, listening to the same breeze in the trees. To say Mayes is talented is an understatement.

I don't like reviews that give too much away about the plot, so if you're looking for something that outlines everything in the book, you will be disappointed. Instead, let me tell you why this book hooked me. Mayes dives into a very real, and heartbreaking situation. He plunges head first into the murky waters of racism- that past and the present- and rolls around in it, letting us experience it alongside his characters. We see how the sins of the past have helped shape the present, creating an abyss for those that are descendant of the Aborigines. But in that terrible place of pain and suffering, struggle and hardship, is the story of humanity. Kindness can blossom in the strangest places. Strength can be found when most needed. And clarity can come in many guises.

In the dark, painful past, a little girl finds her love of music. Amidst slavery and horrible abuse, she finds a friend that encourages her passion and skills-- someone that has a heart of gold. In the future, you see that gift passed down through bloodlines, the struggle to have it nurtured, understood by those around her. As those around little Ruby Delfoy, struggle to pull themselves out of the sink-hole that is their lives. In one little girl and her gift, they find salvation of different sorts. Relief, peace, understanding, strength, leadership. All of that can blossom in the darkest garden. THAT is the story that Mayes shares with us.

Be prepared to cry, smile, and laugh. I loved the look into the history of Australia and the Aborigines. There is a wide supporting cast, each present for a reason, just like in life. They all have their own voice, their own reasonings and the story is woven together beautifully. If you enjoy stories about life, down and dirty, REAL life, then this is the book for you.  Buy your copy, read it, and leave a review. The story will leave you thinking-- the ultimate sign of a good book. (In my opinion, of course.)

Thank you, Dean, for sharing this story with all of us.

(Without going on a rant, let me just say that the situation could very well be applied to the United States-- the story set here, and still feel real and truthful.)

Christmas Lites II Cover Reveal!

Thursday, November 1, 2012

A little while ago, I was asked by Amy Eye if I would like to participate in a Christmas anthology, where all of the profits would go to a great charity, the NCADV. I was honored to be asked and really hoped that the anthology would help raise money for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

I racked my brain for something that I could submit and eventually settled on a short story about Meena from my novel Flukes. It's about Meena as a little girl and her trip to see Santa. It's a sweet story, with a little magic. It centers around family and the magic of the season. I hope you all enjoy it!

And just look at this cover! Isn't it gorgeous? I'm in love with it. The cover was designed by Regina from Mae I Design. And it will be in paperback, so I will get to look at it on my book shelf! Whoop!
