Romantic Times Convention in New Orlean? Why yes, I'd love to go!

Thursday, May 8, 2014

Next week I will be in New Orleans for the Romantic Times Convention with roughly a billion other authors. I'm looking forward to so much about next week! I can't wait to try all of the Cajun food. Okay, not all of it, because I'm not big on oysters or things that set my face and stomach on fire, but all the rest? Sign me up. I'm also dorkily looking forward to all of the history in NOLA. I've never been before and I can't wait to see the old buildings and experience the combination of so many different heritages.

I'm also REALLY, SUPER-DUPER, RIDICULOUSLY excited about seeing certain authors. I'm not going to name all of them because I will actually be doing events with some of them. (OH MY UNICORNS. Lil' ol' me! With people that I read before even dreaming of publishing a book. Okay. That's a lie. I've always dreamed of having published books, but you know what I mean.) I will go ahead and say that I am head over heels stoked to find out that Tamora Pierce will be speaking on some of the panels. You guys? YOU. GUYS! Tamora Pierce got me through 7th grade. My name took up most of the library card for the book Song of the Lioness. (For you whipper snappers, a library card was this little piece of paper in a pocket at the back of a book. The librarian would fill in your name and the date you checked the book out. Alas, it's all done digitally now. I bet that saves librarians from a ton of paper cuts!)

I'm going to admit here, on my blog, for the world to see, that I may actually have an out of body experience if I get to meet Tamora Pierce. I'm serious. I'm likely to bust into tears or stare at her unable to form coherent words. So, if you see me in a puddle somewhere, cuddling a book or two--or five--kindly step around me.I'll be fine eventually. I could go on forever, but let's just say that Tamora Pierce and Anne McCaffrey taught me how to write strong heroines. I will forever be in their debt.

Okay. I just went off on a three paragraph tangent. But as you can see, I'm truly excited. And humbled to be participating/hosting events with some big names. Good Lord, I hope I don't say anything stupid.

So, without further ado, here is my (rather busy) schedule for RT. I'd love it if you come see me! I'm bringing all sorts of goodies!

Giant Book Fair

Meet more than 700 authors who will autograph books, posters and bookmarks. Bring your “keepers” and have them signed!
This year we have combined our Giant Book Fair with our E-Book/Indie Expo to provide a great, new, merged experience. Find all of your favorite authors in one place!
The Saturday Giant Book Fair ticket is included in the full general convention registration fee.
This event is also open to the public and tickets can be purchased for just the Giant Book Fair. You can purchase a ticket at the door the day of the event. Pre-ordered tickets will be picked up at the hotel on the day of the Giant Book Fair.
You may bring in your books from home to get them autographed. However, they must be checked in and stamped (with invisible ink, so there's no damage to your books) before you enter the book fair. Also only two books from home per author are allowed.
Event Date:
Saturday, May 17, 2014 - 11:00am to 2:00pm
Host(s): Location:
3rd Floor
Room:
Grand Ballroom & Mardi Gras Ballroom

I have a lot of behind the scenes stuff going on as well, but if you see me walking through the hotel don't hesitate to say hello!!! I can't wait to see everyone, meet new people, and share my love for books!

See you soon!
